Southern Miss romps to season-opening win

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Dominic Magee hit four 3-pointers on his way to 15 points and Tyler Stevenson also scored 15 to go with seven rebounds to propel Southern Miss to a 111-66 romp over Southeastern Baptist College in a season opener on Tuesday night.

Anfernee Hampton tossed in 14 points, while LaDavius Draine and Tyree Griffin scored 13 and 12, respectively. Cortez Edwards snagged a game-high 10 rebounds to help the Golden Eagles earn a 59-36 advantage on the boards.

Antonio Currie topped the Chargers with 11 points, but he made just 4 of 15 shots from the floor as SE Baptist shot 34 percent (24 of 70).

Southern Miss shot 51 percent (40 of 78) and grabbed 20 offensive rebounds.

All 12 players scored for the Golden Eagles, who raced out to a 52-26 halftime lead.
