MADISON, Wis. (AP) Reserve forward Andy Van Vliet plans to transfer from Wisconsin after three years with the program.

Coach Greg Gard says the 7-foot jump-shooter was granted his release to explore a transfer on Tuesday.

Van Vliet appeared in 31 games over two seasons, averaging 3.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 2017-18. He had career highs of 18 points and eight rebounds in the season opener against South Carolina State.

But his playing time tailed off dramatically after the first week of the season as Gard started using freshman Aleem Ford more, and later Nathan Reuvers.

A native of Belgium, Van Vliet had to sit out the 2015-16 season after the NCAA ruled him ineligible for not enrolling in college within a year of high school graduation.
