Middle Tennessee hits 15 3-pointers, beats Rice 94-75 (Feb 08, 2018)

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) Giddy Potts made six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points to help Middle Tennessee cruise to a 94-75 victory over Rice on Thursday night to its sixth straight win.

Middle Tennessee (19-5, 11-1) has won 11 of its past 12 games. Rice (5-19, 2-9) has lost six of its last seven.

Potts was 8 of 15 from the floor. Antwain Johnson added 17 points, Nick King had 15 and James Hawthorne 10 for the Blue Raiders, who shot 51.5 percent from the field and made 15 of 32 (47 percent) from long range.

Connor Cashaw scored 18 points and had eight rebounds to lead four in double-figure scoring for Rice.

Middle Tennessee closed the first half on a 22-6 run for a 50-33 halftime advantage. Tyrik Dixon, Potts, Johnson and Therren Shelton-Szmidt each hit a 3-pointer during the stretch. Potts opened the second with consecutive 3s and the Blue Raiders rolled from there.
