College football picks: Trend of going for it on 4th down continues to rise and so does success rate

The trend of college football teams going for it on fourth down instead of punting or attempting field goals is continuing to rise, and so is the success rate

Quinton Jackson - Surpasses 80 yards against UAB Jackson recorded 22 rushes for 81 yards during Saturday's 24-17 victory versus UAB.

Impact Jackson didn't get in the end zone this week, but was a workhorse, tying a season-high with 22 carries. The junior was able to control much of the game, as the passing offense wasn't much of a factor for the Owls, recording only 41 yards through the air.

Chase Jenkins - Throws two touchdowns in win Jenkins was 11 of 15 passing for 41 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 24-17 win against UAB. He also had 12 rushes for 56 yards.

Impact Jenkins only threw for 41 yards, but his two touchdown passes were enough to propel Rice over UAB. The sophomore used his legs to his advantage as well, reaching 50 yards on the ground for the second time in the last three games.

Chase Jenkins - Held in check against Memphis Jenkins was 11 of 16 passing for 100 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Friday's 38-14 defeat versus Memphis. He also had 15 rushes for 34 yards.

Impact Jenkins didn't have his best stuff on Halloween night, barely getting to 100 receiving yards and throwing his second interception of the season. The dual-threat couldn't get his legs going either, averaging only 2.3 yards per carry, which is his second-lowest number on the year.

Tyson Thompson - Suits up in Week 10 Thompson (undisclosed) played in Friday's 38-14 loss to Memphis and did not log any targets.

Impact Thompson generated seven punt return yards, but he didn't log any other stats. The wide receiver was considered questionable leading up to the contest with an undisclosed injury. Thompson has five catches for 72 yards and a touchdown in 2025.
