Davidson fends off UNC Wilmington 91-85

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Kellan Grady and Jon Axel Gudmunsson poured in 25 points apiece and Davidson hit the road for the first time this season and beat UNC Wilmington 91-85 on Saturday.

Grady sank 11 of his 14 shots from the floor and grabbed five rebounds for the Wildcats (7-1), who picked up their fourth straight win. Gudmunsson hit half of his 12 shots and all 10 of his free throws and added eight assists and seven boards. Luke Frampton finished with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point range and freshman Luka Brajkovic scored 13.

Davidson trailed 31-28 with 3:41 left in the first half, but Grady's layup sparked an 11-3 run to close out the half and the Wildcats led 39-34. Davontae Cacok's putback bucket gave the Seahawks (4-5) their first lead of the second half, 45-44, with 16:50 remaining. UNC Wilmington led 61-54 at the midway point of the second half, but the Wildcats battled back and took a 73-30 lead on Gudmunsson's 3-pointer with 4:34 left. Jeantal Cylla's 3-pointer pulled the Seahawks even, but Grady scored five straight points and the Wildcats led for the final 3:17.

Cacok paced Wilmington with 19 points and 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Cylla had 18 points, Ty Taylor scored 14 and Ty Gadsden pitched in with 12 points and five assists.
