WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 Results: Bray Wyatt Finally Reaches the Mountaintop

Bray Wyatt wins the WWE Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 and finally reaches the top of the main event mountain in WWE.

It finally happened. For years, Bray Wyatt is the WWE Champion. Take a moment to let that soak in. Go ahead. It certainly took me a few moments after pinning AJ Styles inside the Elimination Chamber.

The WWE has often put the Eater of Worlds in a big spotlight in front of the WWE Universe. Many WWE fans will admit that Bray Wyatt winning the WWE Championship is a long time coming for him. But it was still a surprise. How many times have we thought that Wyatt was in line for a major push, only to be disappointed in the end?

Since his main roster debut in July 2013, he’s developed a dedicated fan base within the WWE Universe. His eloquent promos have attracted many to “follow the buzzards.” Despite being one of the more popular villains in the WWE for the last few years, he’s never quite been given that last little push to the top of the mountain.

Bray Wyatt has been in major feuds with the likes of John Cena and Roman Reigns. But on both occasions, he found himself on the losing end of the feud. But it seemed that 2016 would see the start of the most unexpected rise to WWE Champion. Because with the inability for WWE creative to put Wyatt over in recent years, no one would have expected he would win at WWE Elimination Chamber 2017.

It started with a big win over Randy Orton at Backlash, which would surprisingly lead to the Viper joining the Wyatt Family. With Orton winning the Royal Rumble, many speculated that maybe Bray Wyatt was going to win the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber.

But with the WWE’s track record, it seemed almost too good to be true for Bray Wyatt to finally receive that big main event push. As the match continued, fans started to sense it. When he pinned John Cena, I was certainly asking myself if this was really happening.

The final moments of the match saw a great ending between Styles and Wyatt as both hit each other with everything possible. And then, a final Sister Abigail saw the Eater of Worlds become a champion of the world.

Despite being one of the most popular superstars – as seen with the fans acting as fireflies in his entrance – this is his first championship in his WWE career. He never won any singles titles in the WWE main roster or in NXT. But his first title is one that counts. Bray Wyatt is the WWE Champion.

Even after the official handed him the belt, it’s still weird to think that it finally happened. But it’s probably one of the most deserved championship wins in a long time. With his spot likely secured for WrestleMania 33 as a champion, at least fans can say they saw Bray Wyatt reach the top of the WWE mountain.
