Brock Lesnar is entering the Royal Rumble to face off with Goldberg
Paul Heyman had an emotional sit-down interview with Michael Cole during Monday night’s episode of Raw, where the advocate for Brock Lesnar admitted that Lesnar took Goldberg “lightly” at Survivor Series, called the loss embarrassing, and revealed when Lesnar plans to make his return.
Goldberg annihilated Lesnar in just 86 seconds in Toronto, and according to Heyman, Lesnar suffered cracked ribs when Goldberg speared him for the first time. After Goldberg announced last week that he plans to put off retirement for “one more title run,” Heyman revealed that Lesnar will be joining him in the Royal Rumble match (where the winner goes on to main event WrestleMania).
Now, a Lesnar-Goldberg showdown in the Alamodome will certainly be a hugely hyped match and should sell quite a few tickets, but it also adds an air of predictability to what is supposed to be the most unpredictable event of the year. The best part of the Royal Rumble are the surprises - old stars returning, unexpected eliminations - and WWE will hopefully avoid letting the Royal Rumble match become a 45-minute warmup to Goldberg and Lesnar in the ring together alone.
