David Branch inks new multi-fight contract with the UFC

David Branch is returning to the UFC.

The former World Series of Fighting light heavyweight and middleweight champion has inked a new multi-fight contract with the promotion according sources speaking to FOX Sports on Wednesday.

MMAFighting.com first reported the news.

Branch previously fought for the UFC very early in his career while amassing a 2-2 record overall before exiting the promotion in 2011.

As he gained experience outside the Octagon, Branch amassed a very impressive resume including a 10-fight win streak while winning titles at both 205-pounds and 185-pounds in World Series of Fighting.

Just recently, Branch became a free agent and it didn't take long for the UFC to retain his services with a new contract.

According to sources, Branch will focus on middleweight upon his return to the UFC with a targeted date as early as May for his next fight. Branch last fought in December 2015 when he defended his middleweight title with a submission victory over Louis Taylor.

Branch has also picked up several notable wins over former UFC fighters such as Yushin Okami, Clifford Starks, Jesse Taylor and Vinny Magalhaes during his 10-fight undefeated streak over the past four years.
