COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Two-time defending Southeastern Conference player of the year Tiffany Mitchell was helped off the court after crashing to the floor as she drove to the lane in the second quarter of No. 2 South Carolina's game against No. 18 Kentucky on Thursday night.

The South Carolina senior spent several minutes face down as team doctors and trainers surrounded her. She appeared to be sobbing as her chest was moving up and down rapidly. The team said she had a lower back bruise.

Mitchell was eventually lifted off the floor and walked to the locker room as the crowd cheered.

She was gimpy in the opening quarter, limping down the court before going to the bench. She went to the locker room briefly before returning to the game.
