Griffin, Hempe lead No. 19 Georgia past Alabama 64-47

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Tiaria Griffin had 16 points, Merritt Hempe added 15 and No. 19 Georgia snapped a two-game losing streak with a 64-47 win over Alabama on Sunday.

The Bulldogs (13-2, 1-1 SEC) scored the first nine points of the game, led 16-3 on Krista Donald's 3-pointer at 14:51 and scored the last four points of the half to make it 41-23. Griffin had 13 points and the Bulldogs shot 51.6 percent.

The Crimson Tide (11-6, 0-2) shot 30 percent, including 4 of 23 from 3-point range, and made just 11 of 24 free throws. Ashley Williams and Quanetria Bolton scored 12 apiece for Alabama.

Georgia shot 46 percent, made 14 of 16 free throws and had a 41-32 rebounding advantage with Shacobia Barbee grabbing eight to go with her five assists. Hempe had seven rebounds.
