The Ghana international has struggled to earn a regular run in the side due to fitness concerns last season. Mensah has recovered from a hamstring injury he picked up in the opening game with Birmingham and is hoping to return to the side for this weekend's trip to Wigan. The 27-year-old has been working hard on his fitness and is confident he can play for the rest of the season without any problems "I will not be troubled by my old problems anymore," Mensah told the Daily Star. "If the boss wants me to play in every game, I will do so. "I am now getting special treatment at Sunderland like I had during the World Cup. I am confident I will play every match for the rest of the season." Sunderland have helped Mensah work on his fitness by allowing him to bring his own personal physio to Wearside and he feels the move is paying off. "I had special treatment during the World Cup and it made a big difference," added Mensah. "If I follow that same programme I know I will be okay."
