The midfielder went under the knife six weeks ago after suffering a stress fracture in his right ankle during the summer. The teenager had originally hoped the injury would heal itself with the help of a protective boot, however, he was forced to undergo an operation that is set to keep him sidelined into the new year. After the initial frustration, Wilshere, who is yet to make an appearance this season, is apparently now on track in his recovery. "As I said had 6 week X-ray earlier and all going well," he wrote on his Twitter page. "I can start to work a bit harder now." The news will come as welcome relief for Arsenal after their early-season form was undermined by a rash of injuries. A severely-depleted side was thrashed 8-2 by Manchester United at Old Trafford in August, but they have since won six of their past seven matches - including a stunning 5-3 success at Chelsea - to move back up the Premier League table.
