Germany to play Australia in March

Germany will play Australia in a friendly in Moenchengladbach next March.

The German football federation said Thursday that the match was set for March 29.

Germany beat Australia 4-0 in its opening group match at the World Cup in South Africa.

Germany coach Joachim Loew says he's looking forward to a rematch with Australia, now coached by Holger Osieck - an assistant to Franz Beckenbauer when West Germany won the 1990 World Cup.

Loew says the match will offer an opportunity to test out younger players who have risen to prominence in the Bundesliga by then.
