PSV Eindhoven extended its lead atop the Dutch league despite a 0-0 win at Ajax on Saturday.

Ajax nearly took the lead in the 76th minute when Luis Suarez's long-range drive was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson.

Ajax substitute Rasmus Lindren was ejected in injury time for a foul on Barcelona-bound Ibrahim Afellay.

FC Twente, which could have benefited from the draw in Amsterdam, lost 2-1 to AZ Alkmaar.

Rasmus Elm and Celso Ortiz scored to hand the defending champion its second successive defeat, and end Twente's 36-game unbeaten run at home.

Luuk de Jong put Twente ahead with a goal in the 17th but Elm leveled off a 63rd-minute free kick. Captain Stijn Schaars set up Ortiz for the winner in the 63rd.

PSV leads the standings with 34 points, four more than Twente. Ajax was third with 28.

A Rydell Poepon hat trick helped De Graafschap to a 3-1 win over Roda JC. Stein Huysegems replied for Roda in the 45th.

Also, Davy Propper and Dalibor Stevanovic scored in Vitesse Arnhem's 2-0 win over Heracles Almelo.

Roland Bergkamp scored in the 75th in Excelsior Rotterdam's 1-0 win over VVV-Venlo.
