Deportivo beats Sevilla 1-0 in Spanish league

Juan Rodriguez scored Saturday to give Deportivo La Coruna a 1-0 win over Sevilla in the Spanish league. Rodriguez jumped on Fernando Navarro's weak clearance to rocket a right-footed shot from outside the area into the top of goal in the 38th minute and snap Sevilla's five-game winning streak. Deportivo's fifth win in six games gives it 15 points to be level with Sevilla and Real Madrid, which played Valladolid later Saturday without injured star Cristiano Ronaldo. Barcelona leads with 18 points and faces its first test of the season later at Valencia, which might have striker David Villa back from injury.
