The French international headed in from close range in the 69th minute of a largely uneventful encounter.

Both teams had already qualified for the knockout round.

The win, Chelsea's first at the Stadium of the Dragon in three visits, gives it 13 points with a game to play.

Second-placed Porto has nine.

Anelka, who has found the net three times in five Champions League appearances this season, also scored in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Porto at Stamford Bridge in their group stage opener.

Chelsea, the English Premier League leader, had most of the possession in Portugal but produced a tepid performance overall.

Porto's best chances came in the first half.

Petr Cech was at full stretch to deny Fernando Belluschi and in the 29th the Argentine midfielder, making his first start for a month, struck the goal frame with a long-range effort.
