Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich's Anatoliy Tymoshchuk has been banned for three matches after receiving a red card for a high tackle in a 2-1 win over Augsburg on Sunday.

The German Football Federation banned the Ukrainian midfielder on Monday. He will miss matches against defending champion Borussia Dortmund, Mainz and Werder Bremen.

Tymoshchuk's absence will complicate matters for coach Jupp Heynckes ahead of those important matches because Tymoshchuk was partially filling the role of Bastian Schweinsteiger. Schweinsteiger is out with a broken collarbone until the end of the year.
