Jose Valverde's comeback attempt continued in Lakeland, Fla., Friday night.

Valverde, who was added to the Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A, Florida State League) active roster Friday, threw a scoreless inning against the Dunedin Blue Jays in a 3-1 loss.

Valverde walked one, struck out one and didn't allow a hit.

After throwing a scoreless inning against the Braves on Wednesday, the Tigers decided to keep Valverde in Florida for now instead of sending him to Toledo, where the weather is iffy.

Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski said earlier this week that the plan is to have Valverde pitch both Friday and Saturday for Lakeland.

Valverde threw two scoreless innings without giving up a hit or a walk in Monday's scrimmage with the Canadian junior national team.

The Tigers have until May 8 to make a decision on Valverde.
