Unforgettable U wins feature on opening day at Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (AP) Unforgettable U cruised to a 9 1/2-length victory in the $50,250 feature on opening day of the winter meet Thursday at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Edwin Maldonado, Unforgettable U ran six furlongs in 1:08.67 and paid $4.60, $2.60 and $2.40 as the 13-10 second choice.

Finest City returned 42.60 and $2.40 as the 6-5 favorite. Windy Forecast was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $3.80 to show.

Unforgettable U was coming off consecutive fourth-place finishes for trainer Richard Baltas. The 4-year-old filly most recently ran on turf at Del Mar 11 days earlier.

Her third win in 12 career starts increased her earnings to $145,258. She won her debut on the same surface at Los Alamitos last year.
