Packers WR Jennings to play vs. Seahawks

Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings is ready to return from his groin injury and is officially active for Monday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

There were encouraging signs over the weekend that Jennings would likely play in this game.

"Greg looked good today," coach Mike McCarthy said after Saturday's practice in Green Bay. "He made a big jump from earlier in the week. Practiced well, so his examination in the morning will be the key in whether he goes or not. I thought he looked like himself today."

Jennings, who suffered an injured groin late in the Packers' Week 1 loss to the 49ers, missed the team's Week 2 win against the Bears and then returned to practice Tuesday. After a day off Wednesday, optimism for his Week 3 return waned when he was held out Thursday. But on Friday, the two-time Pro Bowler returned with limited participation, and Saturday he had full participation. He is officially listed as questionable.

"We wanted to see him go through the full practice," McCarthy said. "He took (all the snaps), and it didn't look to be an issue."

Jennings, 29, is off to a slow start in a contract year. He missed much of the preseason with a concussion and had only five catches for 34 yards against the 49ers. Last year, his streak of three straight 1,100-yard seasons ended when he missed the final three regular-season games with a knee injury.

After Friday's practice, Jennings expressed frustration with his most recent injury.

"It's been a rough start to the year for me," Jennings said. "Something that I'm not pretty high on doing is standing on the sideline as much as I've been standing on the sideline. And missing practice, for that matter, (just) as much. Growing pains, I guess. Gotta go through it at some point. I'll get through it. I'm a positive guy."

Jennings had played in all 48 of the Packers' regular-season games from 2008-2010 but now has missed four of the last five dating back to last season. That fact is not lost on him.

"It is frustrating; it really is frustrating," he said. "You can get down, but I try not to do that. I try to look at the positives. The negatives kind of jump in your face when you see guys, especially you see the guys going through practice and taking the heavy reps. It kind of puts a burden on them as well."

The inactive players for the Packers in Monday night's game are running back James Starks, cornerback Davon House, wide receiver Jarrett Boykin, tight end Tom Crabtree, linebackers Terrell Manning and Jamari Lattimore and safety Sean Richardson.
