No. 4 Notre Dame nets trio of third-period goals to top Badgers
No. 12 Wisconsin had Saturday’s game within reach -- trailing 3-2 into the final period, but No. 4 Notre Dame rolled to its 13th straight win with three third-period goals to beat the Badgers 6-2.
Coming off a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the Irish on Friday, the Badgers tried to avoid the sweep at the Kohl Center Saturday but were never able to claim a lead.
Wisconsin’s Peter Tischke netted his first goal of the season to tie the game 1-1, and senior forward Ryan Wagner added another in the second period to knot the game once again at 2-2.

But Notre Dame went on to score the last four goals.
Notre Dame sophomore forward Cal Burke scored a hat trick, junior Dennis Gilbert added two more and sophomore Mike O’Leary tallied the final empty-net strike for the Irish.
Kyle Hayton stopped 23 of the 28 shots he faced in net for the Badgers.
The Badgers outshot Notre Dame 41-29 – including 17-7 in the third period – but couldn’t put anything past sophomore goaltender Cale Morris, who improved to 15-1 between the pipes this season.
Wisconsin has now lost three of its past four games.
