Jaromir Jagr continues trek up scoring list as Panthers edge Canucks
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- Jaromir Jagr scored his 732nd goal to move past Marcel Dionne for fourth place in NHL history, and Aleksander Barkov tallied the winner in the shootout as the Florida Panthers beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 on Sunday.
Barkov scored against Jacob Markstrom, who entered the game after Ryan Miller left with an injury after allowing a goal on two shots in the shootout.
Jared McCann scored in the shootout for Vancouver, but Roberto Luongo stopped Sven Baertschi to seal the win.
Aaron Ekblad, Vincent Trocheck and Shawn Thornton also scored for the Panthers. Luongo stopped 34 shots.
Daniel Sedin scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season for the Canucks. Derek Dorsett, Sven Baertschi and Jannik Hansen also scored goals. Miller made 36 saves.
The game was tied four times in the first two periods.
Ekblad gave the Panthers a 4-3 lead on a power-play goal at 8:31 of the second. Jonathan Huberdeau passed to Jagr in the corner of the crease and Jagr dropped a perfect pass to Ekblad, who poked it past Miller.
The Canucks tied the score at 4 when Sedin and Hansen took advantage of a 2-on-1. Sedin took a pass from Hansen below the left circle and put the puck into an open net with 5:20 left in the second.
Tied at 2, each team traded goals 31 seconds apart in the second. Trocheck gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead when his shot from the slot got past Miller at 5:38. Dorsett tucked in his own rebound at 6:09 to tie the score at 3.
Jagr's power-play goal with 11.5 seconds left in the first tied the game at 2. Barkov passed to Jagr in front and Jagr slapped the puck past Miller.
The Canucks took a 2-1 lead when Bo Horvat passed to Baertschi in the right circle, who wristed it over Luongo's shoulder with 4:31 left in the first.
Vancouver took a 1-0 lead when Hansen deflected the puck into the net at 6:32.
The Panthers tied it 1-all after Thornton scored his first goal of the season at 12:26.
NOTES: Canucks C Henrik Sedin missed his second straight game with a lower-body injury sustained in Thursday's 2-0 defeat at Philadelphia. ... The Panthers played the first of a six-game homestand and does not go on the road until Jan. 5 when they visit Buffalo.
