* The Rays scored three runs in the first inning against right-hander Hiroki Kuroda, which proved to be all they needed to maintain their lead for the AL's first wild-card spot. Matt Joyce, Delmon Young, Evan Longoria, James Loney (two) and David DeJesus (two) each had RBI to contribute to the rout. * A serious accident three nights earlier failed to prevent Jacob Landis from completing a charity bicycle ride around the major leagues in Miami. Landis reached his last ballpark, Marlins Park, for Tuesday night's game between Miami and Philadelphia. He raised $140,000 for children that need Cochlear implants. Read More

* Darin Ruf and Kevin Frandsen drove in runs in the first inning, and the Phillies beat Miami 2-1 on Tuesday night to hand the Marlins their 100th loss of the season. Ruf drew a bases-loaded walk, Frandsen followed with an RBI groundout and that was all the offense that the Phillies would need. Read More
