Football camp officials charged after assault allegations

SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) Three men who ran a Pennsylvania football camp have been charged with child endangerment following accusations they allowed older campers to beat up younger ones.

Somerset County prosecutors said Wednesday the Steel Valley Midget Football Association officials never addressed complaints of physical assaults at the weeklong Camp Ruffhouse in Laurel State Park for 11- to 14-year-olds.

Officials say they found out about the abuse after two youths reported assaults. Prosecutors allege those who complained were called snitches and were told to hit back or were even punished.

Charged are association director Aaron Knight, camp director Michael Todd and executive director Loren Ford.

A lawyer representing Knight and Todd says prosecutors don't have a strong enough case. Court records don't list an attorney representing Ford.
