ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) County Lineman rallied to beat heavy favorite Batti Man by a head Thursday at Santa Anita in the $50,000 Indian River Purse, a race moved from the turf to the main track because of overnight rain.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani for trainer Vladimir Cerin, County Lineman, was four lengths back in third at the top of the stretch in the field of five older horses, but passed both Batti Man and brief leader Royal F J for the win, covering 1 mile in 1:35.53.

The winner paid $12.40, $4.40 and $3.40. Batti Man paid $2.40 and $2.10. Royal F J paid $3.40 to show.

A 4-year-old colt bred in Canada, County Lineman won for the fourth time in 11 starts. He earned $30,000, taking his lifetime total to $164,961.
