NEW YORK (AP) Classy Class was the front-running winner of the $80,000 allowance feature Thursday at Belmont Park.

The lone 3-year-old in the field, Classy Class got his third win in eight starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

Breaking from the outside post, the 2-1 second choice bounded to the lead and dictated the pace for a 1 1/2-length victory over Doc Almon. Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard for the seven furlongs in 1:23.50.

Havana, the 9-5 favorite, finished fifth after stumbling at the start in his first race in more than a year. He was considered a leading Triple Crown contender last season after finishing second in the 2013 Breeders' Cup Juvenile until foot injuries limited the gray colt to only two starts.
