BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) Police say a preliminary medical examiner's report confirms a 14-year-old Minnesota boy who collapsed while playing hockey died from a heart condition.

Patrick Schoonover of Eagan was playing for an Eastview Youth Hockey team in Brainerd when he collapsed and died Friday.

The boy's father, Mike Schoonover, said earlier the medical examiner told the family that the boy's death wasn't due to any hits or a fall.

Schoonover says his son's heart defects never showed up in any physicals and his son never complained of chest pains.
