Terry Francona, Cleveland Indians manager, joins Matt this week to talk about his new job and why he is excited to get to work. He also discusses his alma mater, Arizona, winning a national championship in baseball last season, offers thoughts on the Baseball Hall of Fame and insight into his philosophy of using sabermetrics. Plus, hear all about his new book that chronicles his time with the Boston Red Sox called, "Francona: The Red Sox Years."

Among his observations:

On Arizona baseball winning the National Championship last season: "I was thrilled. Obviously with the baseball team I keep track, but when the basketball team wins I'm thrilled, when the football team wins I'm thrilled, those ties — they go a long way."

On his departure from the Red Sox in 2011: "I do think maybe it was time for me to move on. I thought some of my ability to reach some of the players — I was frustrated with that... I thought what happened after that was a little bit below the belt. There were some things said in the newspaper that hurt me a great deal. I don't wake up in the morning and think about it very often, but I also won't forget about it either."

Thoughts on no Hall of Fame inductees for this year: "I think it's a shame. Baseball is paying a price for maybe burying their heads in the sand a long time ago, it's not fair to a lot of players. It's not fair to the writers, either. There is probably no right answer right now, and that's a shame."
