Flyers' Lecavalier on retirement: 'Hasn't crossed my mind'

Philadelphia Flyers veteran forward Vincent Lecavalier isn't letting his lack of playing time influence his decision to continue his NHL career.

Lecavalier has been a healthy scratch in nine straight games and 18 of 25 contests for the Flyers (10-10-5) this season, prompting NJ.com to ask the 35-year-old if the thought of retirement had entered his mind.

"Not at all," Lecavalier said. "No. It hasn't crossed my mind."

Lecavalier, who is in the third season of his five-year, $22.5 million deal, recorded his lone point this campaign with an assist in a 4-1 loss to the Metropolitan Division-rival New Jersey Devils on Oct. 29. He was held without a point in his next six games and has been sidelined since facing the Washington Capitals on Nov. 12.

The top overall pick of the 1998 draft, Lecavalier has scored 411 goals and set up 521 others in 1,170 career contests with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Flyers.
