Coyotes D Eckford, G McElhinney

The Phoenix Coyotes have signed defenseman Tyler Eckford and goalie Curtis McElhinney to one-year contracts.

Terms of the deals Monday were not disclosed.

McElhinney has played four NHL seasons with Ottawa, Anaheim and Calgary, going 18-26-4 record with a 3.13 goals-against average in 67 games.

A 28-year-old from London, Ontario, McElhinney played a career-high 28 games with the Senators and Ducks, with a record of 9-13-1, two shutouts and a 2.99 goals-against average.

Eckford played four games with New Jersey and 37 with Albany last season. In 2009-2010, the 25-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, set career highs with eight goals and 31 points with Lowell.

Eckford was originally selected by New Jersey in the seventh round in the 2004 entry draft.
