Blues' Jackman: It could be cup or bust regarding future with the team

Published Apr. 23, 2015 5:50 p.m. ET

The Stanley Cup has eluded the St. Louis Blues for their entire 47-year history. Naturally, Barret Jackman — who has spent his whole 12-year NHL career with St. Louis, has never enjoyed the opportunity to hoist the highly coveted 34.5 pound piece of silver either.

This year is thought to be different for Jackman and the Blues, though. They championed the highly competitive Central Division with an impressive 109-point season, and restored the city's faith in the team after a disappointingly early exit from the playoffs a year ago.

But faith only goes so far. At 34-years old, Jackman realizes that time is running out on his professional hockey career, and being that he is in the final year of his contract, his chances of winning the cup with the Blues are growing slimmer and slimmer with every game.

When asked about what winning a Stanley Cup would do for his career, Jackman told a KMOX radio station that, "It probably determines whether I'm back or not...It's all or nothing"
