Gonzalez to start in right field for Red Sox

Published Jun. 29, 2011 4:42 p.m. ET

Adrian Gonzalez will make his second career start in right field, allowing David Ortiz to play first base when the Boston Red Sox face the Phillies on Tuesday night.

Gonzalez made his only other appearance in right field with the Texas Rangers on Sept. 30, 2005.

Ortiz wasn't in the lineup the last four games because the designated hitter isn't used in NL parks. The Red Sox scored just nine runs in those games without Big Papi and were 1-3.

Gonzalez leads the AL with a .357 average and 71 RBIs. He also has 16 homers. Ortiz is hitting .311 with 17 homers and 48 RBIs.
