Mark Helfrich: Ducks would 'ideally' name starting QB six days before opener

Published Aug. 10, 2015 2:54 p.m. ET

According to Rob Moseley of GoDucks.com, Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich said Monday that the team would "ideally" know who its QB is for Game 1 five-to-six days before the opener. However, he went on to say that he's been in situations before when that isn't the case.

Helfrich and offensive coordinator Scott Frost will be choosing between redshirt junior Jeff Lockie and incoming graduate transfer Vernon Adams Jr. Adams has yet to join the team as he is still completing his undergraduate degree from Eastern Washington. It is expected that he will join the team on Aug. 13.
