Auburn coach Gene Chizik said he will settle on a starting quarterback for the game at No. 1 LSU by Tuesday's practice.
Barrett Trotter started the first six games for the No. 19 Tigers, but Clint Moseley took over in the second half of a 17-6 victory over Florida on Saturday night.
Chizik said he and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn would talk again after Sunday evening's practice.
''Obviously by the next time we practice (Tuesday), we'll know what we're going to do,'' Chizik said. ''We're still going to talk through it and evaluate it some more.''
Gators coach Will Muschamp is hoping his own quarterback issues will be resolved with the return of starter John Brantley from an ankle injury by the next game against Georgia in two weeks.
For Auburn (5-2, 3-1 Southeastern Conference), Moseley had been 0-for-2 passing this season before getting the call after halftime against the Gators (4-3, 2-3). Trotter completed only two passes in the first half, one for a touchdown, and ranks eighth in the league in passing. He had already been splitting time with freshman Kiehl Frazier, who plays the Wildcat role.
''I told him, `Man, I hope you do great,''' Trotter said. ''I'm glad we won the game.''
Moseley completed 4 of 7 passes for 90 yards in the second half, a game high given both teams' passing problems.
''The game was a little fast for me at first,'' he said. ''I wish I had a few plays back. I made too many mistakes for the standards and expectations of the offense. But I feel like I gave us a good opportunity of winning. I just did my job, which was the biggest thing.''
He insisted he wasn't fretting over the coaches' pending decision, but savored the possibility of making his first start against a team like LSU.
''They're an amazing defense,'' Moseley said. ''There's no way around it. It's something that you really do dream about. I mean, how much more dramatic could it possibly be: No. 1 team in the country, road game, huge underdogs. It doesn't get any better. It's an opportunity I've dreamed of forever.''
His first pass went behind Jay Wisner but he came up big two series later. With Auburn buried inside its 10, he hit Quindarius Carr for a 43-yarder down the left sideline though the Tigers couldn't get points.
He hit tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen for a 15-yard pass and a 23-yarder - on a second-and-21 play - during a touchdown drive on the next series, and directed the Tigers to a clinching field goal late.
''He made a beautiful, beautiful throw to Q-Carr and really probably put it the only place you could put it where it was catchable,'' Chizik said. ''He stood back, he was confident. It was a very nice ball.
''He did some good things. One errant ball almost got picked, so we have those things out there, too. But for a guy coming into a football game and being asked to move the football team and be productive, I think he did a good job.''
Trotter has passed for 1,009 yards and 10 touchdowns but has also been intercepted six times. Chizik praised how he dealt with getting pulled from the game.
''He was great. He handled it as a class act, just the way we thought he would,'' Chizik said. ''Very classy. Was very happy that we won, no matter how we won. That's what I expected from him.''
The Gators have had to two give two highly rated freshmen a trial by fire. Jacoby Brissett played the first half, and Jeff Driskel the second. Both completed 50 percent of their passes and had some misfires, especially with the long ball.
Brissett was intercepted downfield on his first pass with an overthrow. Driskel overshot an open Jordan Reed on a long pass after a flea flicker, and missed Deonte Thompson on a fourth-down play from Auburn's 16.
''Both guys didn't do anything that really hurt us in the game, but then again didn't do anything to help us,'' Muschamp said. ''We had a missed throw on the flea flicker - we need to hit that. The more reps and the more turns those young men get, they are going to be really good football players. I'm excited about both of them.''
