Anthony, Fink help Abilene Christian beat Angelo State 41-24

ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Luke Anthony threw two touchdown passes to Josh Fink and Abilene Christian shut out Division II Angelo State in the second half for a 41-24 victory on Saturday night.

Anthony was 34 of 55 for 370 yards passing. Fink had eight catches for 161 yards. Tracy James ran for 96 yards and a touchdown for Abilene Christian (1-1).

Angelo State (1-1) scored 24 unanswered points in the second quarter, highlighted by Larry Johnson's 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Donavyn Jackson's 29-yard interception return into the endzone.

Anthony tossed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Fink to tie the game 24-24 midway through the third quarter. On the Wildcats' next series, Anthony connected with Fink on a 38-yard pass to the Angelo State 1, and Anthony ran in for the score on the following play. Anthony threw a 43-yard touchdown strike to Fink in the first quarter.

It was the 51st meeting between the in-state teams and former Lone Star Conference foes, but the first since 2012. Angelo State leads the series 28-22-1.
