Kendall Timmons scored 16 points and Josh Davis had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Tulane to a 72-63 season-opening victory over Alabama A&M on Friday night.

Timmons got 12 of his points in the first half, which ended with the Green Wave ahead 42-28. Alabama A&M turned the ball over 12 times in the half to just six for Tulane.

The Bulldogs came back in the second half, when Casey Canty scored 14 of his 19 points, and got within 52-47 with 10:20 remaining.

Tulane then went on a 9-0 run over the next 3:40 to put the first game between the teams out of reach.

Trent Rogers added nine points and five assists for the Green Wave, which shot 51.7 percent (15 of 29) in the first half but dropped to 42.9 percent (9 of 21) in the second.
