Savannah State beats Winthrop 59-58

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Terel Hall scored 15 points including a game-winning free throw in the final second to put Savannah State over Winthrop 59-58 on Thursday night.

Savannah State trailed 6-0 early before a 15-3 run had them up 15-9 with 11:51 left in the first period. Winthrop came back to lead 28-26 at the break. In the second, the lead changed hands eight times before a Hall layup tied it at 58-58 with a second to play. He was fouled by Winthrop's Tevin Prescott and went to the line to sink the free throw for the Savannah State win.

Saadiq Muhammad had 14 points and led with seven rebounds for the Tigers (1-2). Alante Fenner added 11 points and five rebounds. The team sank 50 percent from the field and 42 percent from the line.

Keon Moore had 20 points and four rebounds for the Eagles (2-1).
