S Dakota snaps string, beats W Illinois, 64-54

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) South Dakota used a deft touch from the free throw line and from beyond the arc to snap a six-game losing streak to Western Illinois and even its Summit League record with a 64-54 win Saturday.

Karim Rowson and Tyler Larson scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, to lead South Dakota (12-15, 6-6 Summit). The Coyotes were 17 of 18 from the free throw line, hitting their final six in a row to close out the Leathernecks. South Dakota connected on 7 of 18 shots from long range and were 20 of 45 from the field (44.4 percent).

Western Illinois (9-18, 3-9) was 22 of 48 from the field (45.8 percent), but connected on just 3 of 17 3-point attempts and was 7 of 15 from the line.

Garrett Covington scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Leathernecks, with Jabari Sandifer adding another 12 points.
