Trey Stanton came off the bench to compile a career-high 23 points, leading Rice to a 77-65 victory against Furman on Tuesday night. Stanton, a junior who averaged 4.3 points and 19.0 minutes in the Owls' first four games of the year, played 32 minutes, making 9 of 15 shots from the floor and adding nine rebounds. Tamir Jackson, with 10 points, was the only other player in double figures for Rice (4-1). Amu Saaka scored 18 points for Furman (3-1), and Jordan Miller added 16. Leading 50-41 midway through the second half, Rice went on a 19-8 run over the next 4:24 to take control. Stanton scored seven points during the stretch.
