Anatoly Bose scored 27 points, including going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc, to help Nicholls State hold off Texas-Arlington 79-77 on Wednesday night. The Mavericks pulled to within 73-69 on Marquez Haynes' layup with 48 seconds left in the game, but Bose hit 3 of 4 free throws to seal the game for the Colonels (18-10, 11-4 Southland Conference). Ryan Bathie added 20 points and Fred Hunter had 10 for the Colonels, who maintained second place in the conference with one game remaining against Lamar on Saturday. The Colonels are riding a three-game winning streak. Anthony Vereen paced the Mavericks (16-12, 9-6) with 22 points, Haynes added 18 and Brandon Long finished with 13. The Mavericks blew a six-point halftime lead, as the Colonels opened the second with a 22-8 run to take a 53-45 lead with 8:13 remaining.
