Alex Young scored 17 points to lead IUPUI to a 71-66 Summit League win over Western Illinois Saturday. Gary Patterson and Robert Glenn each chipped in 15 points for IUPUI (16-13, 9-9). Glenn also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Jon Avery scored 10. Western Illinois (9-20, 6-12) took a slight 33-32 lead into the break but was outscored 39-33 by the Jaguars in the second half. Josh Rivers scored a game-high 21 points for the Leathernecks, while David Dubois had 14 points and pulled down six rebounds. Rodney Williams Jr. and David Nurse each scored 12. Williams pulled the Leathernecks within three with 4 seconds left, but Patterson sank two free throws in the final second. The Jaguars shot 54.3 percent from the floor and sunk 85 percent of their free throws. The Leathernecks shot 50 percent and were 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
