Dusty Hannahs Named To Award Watch List

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Razorback senior Dusty Hannahs has been named to the 20 member watch list for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award.

If you are a Razorback basketball fan and aren’t excited about this season, I don’t know what’s wrong with you. One of the things I’m most excited for is watching guard, Dusty Hannahs, shooting jaw-dropping shots. Not only is he REALLY good but he’s from Little Rock which is awesome.

Hannahs is the SEC’s leading returner in 3-point shots made as well as 3-point FG percentage. Out of18 games last season, Dusty nailed three or more three-pointers 18 times. Even if you aren’t a huge basketball fan, this guy is something special to see.

Dusty, who starts his senior season with 979 career points, is also the last guy on the Razorbacks you want to send to the free throw line. His .870 percentage leads the returning players in the SEC and is 3rd in high-major players.

The award is named after Jerry West. West is a Hall of Fame player who was also the 1959 NCAA Final Four MVP. This will be the third year the award will be given to the top shooting guards in Division 1.

Sometime before March, the list will be narrowed down to 10 and then in March, 5 players will be presented to West and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner will be unveiled at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on April 7th. Congratulations and good luck to Dusty for this accomplishment! Woo Pig!
