Davidson tops St. Francis at Holiday Festival

JP Kuhlman and Jake Cohen both scored 17 points and Davidson beat St. Francis, N.Y. 76-69 Tuesday night in the third-place game of the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.

Clint Mann added a career-high 15 points for the Wildcats (6-5), who took third in the four-team tournament for the second straight year.

Ricky Cadell had 21 points for St. Francis (6-5), which lost both games here after entering with a five-game winning streak. Akeem Johnson added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Terriers, who played without Akeem Bennett, their leading scorer (15.8) and rebounder (6.2), who was suspended by the school for one game after being ejected in the opening-round 92-61 loss to Northwestern for a flagrant foul.

The Wildcats matched their biggest lead of the game at 67-57 on two free throws by Cohen with 2:45 to play.

Cadell then scored 10 of St. Francis' final 12 points as the Terriers got as close as 72-68 on a 3 by Cadell with 25 seconds to play.
