Kellyn Acosta's stunning CCL free kick goal capped off a perfect week

It has been a week for 21-year-old Kellyn Acosta.

On Wednesday afternoon, the FC Dallas midfielder/defender was named to Bruce Arena's 24-man USMNT squad ahead of two vital World Cup qualifying matches, and on Wednesday night, he scored one of the goals of the year so far.

It was leg one of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, with Acosta's FC Dallas side taking on Pachuca of Liga MX. After falling down a goal early, Dallas found its footing, tied the game ... and then, in the 58th minute, Acosta stepped up to take a free kick from a good 25 yards out. And he did this.

It's a perfect shot, one with good pace and power. (Watch the replay of the goal at the end of the video to get a better look at it.) What's even more impressive is that Acosta needed just a three-step approach to generate that much pace on the ball.

Acosta is red hot right now, can play multiple positions, and you better believe Arena is going to think long and hard about using him in these must-win qualifiers.
