Calgary Flames Daily: Three-Game Win Streak Comes To An End

Good morning Calgary Flames fans! There’s a crazy amount of snow in Calgary and it’s very cold outside. Let’s check out some Flames news happening.

The Calgary Flames played the New York Rangers yesterday in an early afternoon game. The team battled it out pretty hard but unfortunately, they lost 4-3.

I personally couldn’t watch the game, but from what I gathered through Twitter and my friends in the first period, Dougie Hamilton scored, then Moose great save, then NYR scores, and Dennis Wideman was, well he was being Wideman.

Good news is that the Flames went 1/1 on the PP. The bad news is that NYR also went 1/1 on their PP. They have now allowed three powerplay goals against in their last two games on just seven times being shorthanded. Yikes.

Their powerplay is definitely getting back to where it was in December, but they need to get their penalty-killing in check. They’re not taking as many penalties which is a good sign, but they’re not killing off the ones they are taking as successfully anymore.

And since the Flames lost this game, that means that Chad Johnson will be starting in net next game instead of Brian Elliott because of the win-and-start method the team is now employing.

I also need to mention that Kris Versteeg got into a fight yesterday. AND got ejected from the game for not having his jersey tied down. But he didn’t go without doing a Queen’s wave to the fans while leaving the ice.
