Coughlin says Canty, Tuck had surgery
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin revealed Friday that Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty underwent knee surgery recently.
Coughlin would not specify the nature of the surgery except to say it was more than a routine arthroscopic procedure.
Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Coughlin also revealed defensive end Justin Tuck had surgery following the Super Bowl.
Tuck's surgery was to remove scar tissue in his shoulder and did not show any labrum damage, Coughlin said, adding the veteran defender "feels better than he has in years."
Surgeries for tight ends Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum, both of whom suffered serious knee injuries during the Super Bowl, had been previously announced.
Coughlin said he expects both tight ends to play at some point in 2012 but would not offer a timetable for their return.
