Patriots C Ryan Wendell (illness) returns to practice Monday

The New England Patriots got back a key contributor along the offensive line on Monday as center Ryan Wendell returned to the field. Wendell has yet to take a snap this season as he's been sidelined with an illness. The illness remains unknown as the team hasn't revealed exactly what kept him off the field.

"It just feels good to do your job," Wendell said via the Boston Globe. "You don’t want to get paid to do nothing."

In Wendell's absence, undrafted rookie David Andrews has played well and could remain the starter. In his return, Wendell practiced with the second-team, but he didn't feel limited.

"No, I don’t think so. I didn’t feel limited," Wendell said. "I don’t know. You probably have to ask [coach Bill Belichick] about that, if he thought I was limited or not. I just went out there and did everything they asked me to do."

It remains to be seen where Wendell stands on the depth chart, but one thing is for sure: The Patriots have plenty of depth on the offensive line.
