Denard Robinson returns to practice for Jacksonville

After missing the last three games with knee injury, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson returned to practice with the team on Wednesday.

The three-year veteran injured his left knee in Jacksonville's Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins.

“I’m excited about it,’’ Robinson said about being back on the field, per Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union. “I’m going to be able to do everything I would usually do.”

The 25-year old had six carries for 28 yards and two receptions for 26 yards before being injured.

Robinson's return comes at an opportune time for the Jaguars, who are hurting a running back. Starter T.J. Yeldon is dealing with a groin injury, while backup Bernard Pierce is in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Toby Gerhart worked as Jacksonville's first-team back in Wednesday's practice.
