Do you have a future in Detroit? Stafford, Johnson answer differently

The Lions have just one win and seven losses, good for the worst record in the NFL through the first nine weeks of the 2015 season. 

After the firing of two major executives last week, it has become clear that a full rebuild is imminent in Detroit. Leading up to the Lions' visit to Lambeau Field in Week 10, a couple of the team's longest-tenured starters -- quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson -- were asked about their future with the team.

Their answers differed.

Stafford expressed an interest to stay with the team for "a long time," per this Tweet from Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Johnson, on the other hand, was mum on his future with the team, also via Birkett's Twitter feed.

Stafford and Johnson have been on different wavelengths all season (only three touchdown connections through eight games), but this particular instance of not being on the same page is pretty telling.

The Lions could save tens of millions of dollars for their rebuilding project by parting ways with Stafford and Johnson. The 27-year-old signal-caller could get a new start in a new city, and Megatron could play out the remaining years of a Hall of Fame career with a team that can actually contend for a championship.
