Jerry Jones: Dak Prescott to start vs. Browns; Romo 'isn't ready'

Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott will again start for the team in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, as Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones says Tony Romo is not ready to play.

Romo returned to practice last week on a limited basis and is working to get himself back on the field after suffering a compression fracture in his back during the team's third preseason game.

“Tony isn’t ready to play,” Jones said. “That is subject to Jason Garrett making the decision. But as far as the health issue is concerned of Tony, there is no need to push it that fast.”

Prescott has led the Cowboys to six straight victories, including Sunday night's 29–23 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Prescott threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten on the first possession of overtime to seal the win. He finished the game 19–of-39 for 287 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception.

Jones says that the main concern is Romo's health and that the team is not ready to make any kind of decision as to who starts when Romo is cleared to play.

“My opinion is that we want him to have some more strengthening work done,” Jones said. “He’s really doing well – probably as well as at any time last year, as far as aspects of strength in his back is concerned. But he’s got some more to do.”
